I wanted to talk about the revolution that happened after the elections in Ukraine. What is the current situation and what led to this happening?

What? No revolution yet(unless something is available in Poland
that is not yes in USA), but is rue looks like it's leading up to it.
SHort answer: Eastern Ukraine is Russia people, Russia culture, and
Russian territory until 70s, and won't put up with west. West however
is more Polish in terms of culture and and more pro Western Europe.
Neither isde wants to put up with the other, elections are in a few
days, we can only wait and see.

The east has been russified. Thats the problem. Eastern Ukraine isn't russia. Can't stand the fact russian influence is so strong in Ukraine.

yeah well the Ukrainians handed themselves over ot the Russians back in the time aorund the Chmielnicki rebellion, they didn't like Polish rule, so they took their chances with Russian, little did they know that would be a big mistake.

yes i know, it's unfortunate hopefully things will change now with elimination of russian influences once yushchenko wins. But lately I'm kind of unsure as to what will be done. I know definately what will happen if Yanukovych wins, but possibly with statements by Yu I don't know what will happen with the language situation in Ukraine. I myself am Ukrainian and can't understand how, if you are Ukrainian and you speak russian how does it make you Ukrainian!!

Well, that's perfectly possible. Nationality doesn't imply a unique language, but rather a cultural identity strong enough to be differentiated from others. Americans speak english but are not english, brazilians speak portuguese but are not portuguese, mexicans speak spanish but are not spaniards, the people from Qubec speak french but are not french, and so on.

That can be explained by Kruschev giving Ukraine Russian territory in
times of USSR back when borders were meaningless. So technically
they're Ukrainians. Also not that Yushenko won no military action in
Ukraine. I actually don't think anything bad will happen there untill
the next elections. Unless of course the pro russian east attempts to
secede, but there is no way in hell that would happen.

Ukraine should sever its lackluster eastern part and give it to russia, that would make these elections easier. Then we could all watch in laugh at the gradual decay of the eastern part, like removing a limb to save the body, something that countries (especially america) should do for ease of political expediency.

isn't the east where all the industry is though? they shouldn't
just give up their industry just for the ease of political expediency
