I was just thinking - wouldn't some of the articles and forum highlights make really good podcasts! The moderators could do some announcements about the community, and a few articles could be read out every time. For those who don't want to read their articles out personally, some of the editorial staff could do it for them! I think that it would be a great venture to start up and could really make Allempires much more accesable to the masses.

What do you think?

A history podcast would be a bit dry, unless it was a debate over a hot topic.

...Well, all empires isn't short of those...
Also, many of the articles that we have would be appealing to enthusiasts - when I say "appeal to the masses", I mean the history enthusiasts, which don't really make up the mass public. Chances are that anyone who wants to go on AE in the first place is enthusiastic enough to want to listen to debates and bits of articles (naturally, most articles would be done in part 1 and part 2 if this is implemented.).

I know what your getting at, but personally I found find someone reading straight from an article a little dry. I'd prefer two people debating, say, the principles of the founding fathers of the US - did they truly wish for a seperation of Church and State? Did Franklin and Jefferson - the two deists of the gang - wield too much influence over a predominantly Christian audience?

Yeah - that would be interesting. We could get two people to read out say, an interesting post on a board, or we could have a podcast board. In this board two people would be given a question, have a debate between themselves and this could be read by the editorial team to the podcast file.

What would you do about accents or other cases that could possibly make a speaker hard to understand and thus make the podcast boring?

Reading out an interesting post is hardly a niche. If you want to get some attention, you'd better debate something interesting...

Aster Thrax Eupator,

Good idea. Audio can allow us to do some stuff that is difficult to do on text.

We can play music, explain its significance, or play some speech, or even read some interesting passage from a book.

Actually, playing a songs and explaining its historical significance would be a very good a great pilot. :)

I can't do this project, but I am happy to advise you on getting it off the ground. It should work together with the magazine. PM me about it.
