I consider Mongols my cousins.

For Turks, the homeland isn't Turkey, nor yet Turkistan. Their country is a vast, eternal land: Turan!

They come from the same homeland. Their languages are related. I think that makes them cousins.

Are we cousins?NOpe!
Turks and Mongols were Not cousins. But they allied under the pressure of Gengizhan. Uyghurs never think mongols are their cousins.
Arabs allied with English to expel Turkish,So are Arabs and English cousin?ofcourse NOT!
maybe Uzbek.Kazak and kirgizs are cousins of mongols.

If anybody wants to survive in peace in AE, he better except that they were cousins, or for that matter all the counquerers & winners were cousins of turks. (just in case some other cousinhood relationship thread comes up in future). Dissenters to this thread run the risk of being threaded into something !!! Just joking. Their is an old proverb in India that says Don't earn the wrath of a turk, if you want to live. Since the two communities originated from around the same place, they would definitely be close to each other.

the one who must be kidding is You,man!
look at your face, who looks like mongol?is it me?
i know i don't.know look at your own face.
and go to study your ancestor man!all of them are mongol tribes: naiman,jalair,barlas,doghlat,merkit.....etc.which one is turk? no One!
five years ago no kazakh says he is turkic, even recently one of my kazakh friend said that kazakhs believe they have coomon ancestor with mongols.
th issue of chingizhan shows that you guys have sth to do with mongols.
when chingizhan was obviously mongol, you guys try to steal this hero from mongols and claim he is kazak,kirgiz,uzbek...blah,blah,blah...
did any uyghur claim chingizhan is turk?NO!
Uyghurs lived in mongolia, that's right.but it doesn't mean uyghurs are Mongols or uyghurs are cousins of mongols. So what's the dilemma in your mind?
uyghurs also lived in present day xinjiang while they lived in mongolia.archeological findings show that they bore Caucasoid feature.
but few kazakhs or kirghiz bears Caucasoid appearance.
we have so much differences.dont make Uyghurs close to yourselves.
we know your guy's attitude towards us.just be yourself.dont say "Turk people..or Turkic people...are cousins of ..."
if you wanns be sth of sb,just speak of yourself.

Guys, cool down. This is not the right way to discuss.
As for the topic, Turkic people are quite different from each other. Some Turkic people might be related with Mongols, while others are not that much. Genetic studies show that modern day Qazaq people are closest with modern day Mongols genetically.
Historical documents don't show any common anscestry for these two groups. Linguistical similarities can be due to the Xianbei migration to the east driven by the Huns to influence the Tungustic tribes linguistically.

Well this was meant to be humor. My take being that it is better to accept whatever the turks say & or want to say rather than opposing them considering their fame (for great fighting skills).

If 'face' is the only factor which shows one being Mongol (or cousin), so Chinese, Japanese and Koreans are also Mongols.
They are of the same race (though from different geographical groups), but not Mongol.

Historilcally they may be different, but scientifically they are all alike. Mongoloid. In a scientific way the mongols are definitely closer cousins of Japanese. chinese etc.. than the turks

The questions should be revised. I mean, you've got to define 'cousin' first.
You mean Japanese, for instance, are closer to Mongols than Turks, genetically (this doesn't mean Turks are Caucaid anyhow). That's quite obvious.
But if to compare culture, language, history, then the answer would be Turks, rathern than Japanese or Koreans.
