Just read about this map on BBC and thought of sharing it with you all.

Detail from the Tabula Peutingeriana showing Rome on the right, represented by a crowned figure on a throne.

For more about it Read the Article at BBC.com

Thanks Gharanai Smile It seems HaloChanter has created a topic about the exact same time, but two minutes before you. I will merge the two threads.

Back on topic - seven metres long! That is huge. And being the only remaining street map of the late empire, it would be invaluable to historians.

While TP is the only surviving road map, there are other road lists like Itinerarium Antonini and Ravenna Cosmography. It seems all these had a common source, but most evidences connect TP with Ravenna Cosmography (which obviously was written after a map) and thus many place names can be properly corrected.

Oh here it is, now I find it, thanks for merging both of them as you are right both had the same purpose and you are right that this map may help many historians as well as some students who are interested in old Roman history, pictures and maps and who are researching on topics related to the region.
