Great pix Cyrus! I have been around the Golpayegan mountain for picnic some years ago. The stone is very hard to carve there, they had to have a hard metal to do that. 

Under the first photo, the subtitle says maybe the human figure in the middle of the photo is Gilgamesh,  Sumerian  hero.  How is that possible with that distance from Sumer and the petrograph being 6000 years old? beside Sumerians just settled on Mesopotamia around 4000 BC and became under control of one city around 2800 BC. Confused

I think Sharrukin has answered your question here, where he said "Sumerian culture can be traced to the Kermanshah Culture (c. 7500-5600 BC) of western Iran."

Hi Cyrus,
Thank you for posting some rock art photos from the area around Khomein, Iran.
The photos were taken by Mr Mohammad Nasirifard who lives in Khomein and researched a lot of sites. We published his photos on our website "Worldwide Rock Art Selection".
We are just back from a ten-days visit to Iran and spend three days in Khomein as guests of Mr Nasirifard, his family and friends.
It will take some time before we can publish our rock art photos but there is already a collection about our adventure in Iran on the above mentioned website.

You are welcome, my pics are from http://www.anobanini.ir/ "The Most Comperhensive Encyclopedia in Traveling Over the Iran", of course as this website itself claims to be!
 
But I have to say your photos are greater than them, what is your idea about these Rock Arts, especially about the comparisons with similar ones in Netherlands, Britain, Germany, ...?
 
Meanwhile all texts on the photos are in the Persian langauge, not Arabic.

Thanks for the welcome; much appreciated!
To set things clear, the photos on our website are not taken by us but by our Iranian friend from Khomein, Mr Mohammad Nasirifard, who is an expert on these carvings.
He has his own website "Rock Art in Iran" with a wealth of information:

There are even already photos of our recent visit on-line, all in the Persian (thanks for the tip!) language.

We are now sorting out our recently taken photos of the rock art sites but we await the right names of the sites.
I will post a link to this splendid forum as soon as the collections are on-line.

So we like to come back to this forum in due time.
