There is a similar exhibition, one that is permanent, at the Museum Erotica in Copenhagen. I visited it last summer, and it gives a rather nice overview of sex, especially sex as entertainment, throughout the ages. There's also a section for modern porn, with multiple screens showing both the standard hardcore fare as well as more alternative stuff.

I doubt our needs were any different in the 19th century.

They also have some of the earliest European erotica novels, published in France in the 18th century.

This would have to push the time  boundaries of the sex depiction.
