Where do your socks disappear to in a dryer?

Is there another zone or dimension that they go into?

Is there a sock monster who eats them?

Are there little people who hide in the dryer and steal them?

which leads to:

Is there such a thing as manmade global sock stealing?

Is there an international sock smuggling cartel?

I know when I have had roommates in the best I will get one of their socks but I will miss one as well. Yes, we should blame it on Scottie. Combs also disapear fast but socks are the worse. Sometimes I will find a sock and I just cannot figure where it came from.

Inter Stellar micro vortexes. Geek  I think it has something to do with the electromagnetic field set up by the electric dryer, interacting with the dryer fuzz.  Somewhere there is an alternate universe, landscaped with mountains of old moldy socks.
