Topic: What if Rome Never fell Posted: 03-Feb-2013 at 22:51 |
This of all topics, has en buzzing around my head for almost two years now, what if Roman culture as a whole never fell? Lets say as an example, Rome had more loyal Generals, slightly better economy, aaand for good measure, lets sayit never split into two parts. Using this full unification, better economy, and generals who didnt desire Imperial goals, they survived the barbarian onslaughts during the fourth and fifth centuries. Thus the dark ages never happened. What then?

Someone once said that China is like Europe would have been if Rome had never fallen---in other words---there would have been less scientific progress, not more. The stimulation of the endless rivalries in Europe helped material progress.
