Saraci Street is a typical Balkan street. Lined on both sides with red-tiled Ottoman shops, it winds its way through the heart of Sarajevo's old city before, suddenly, it turns into Ferhadija Street. At that exact point, the Ottoman buildings end and Austro-Hungarian buildings begin. There is no transition from one to the other, just a solid break between them.

Sarajevans refer to it as the place where, literally, East meets West.

A few down narrow Alifakovac Street, which runs into Saraci Street.

Trg Golub, or 'pigeon square', one of many delights along the way.

Saraci Street, near its end.

The point where East meets West, where Saraci meets Ferhadija.

Looks like a very nice Euro-Eastern city.  For some reason, I like those red tiles.
