Topic: What song are you listening to? Posted: 08-Jan-2006 at 12:08 |
And last song for today - the best song about the war here ever written.
Alka (Croat) did it in the form of a letter to a Bosnian friend.
I'm not able to write to you anymore
The grenade storm makes me deaf
Makes my lips mute, the hands stumbling over the words
Shall I ever be able to write to you again?
It used to be so easy
To sit with my eyes closed and imagine you by my side
Playing guitar, and sipping wine
It's used to be so easy
To confess you verses so confused and full of wonder
Shall we ever be able to live with as much dignity as we used to?
Sailing back on the nocturnal voyages and kissing the light
With all the sins and sanctities of the soul
It's so hard to think about life now
As the death is dancing and trembling above us
I think about that life from American soap operas
Or that life from socialistic burlesque of well-being and quality
To think of our love is sacriligious while the little girls are dying
Dreaming about magic and tenderness
I feel peverse because I think about love while the people leave homes
with the plastic socks on their heads, carrying too-heavy bodies in
their hearts.
Shall I ever be able to write to you again?
Shall we ever be able to live with as much dignity as we used to?

Hehehe. I have the Ante music video.
What is this last song called? really nice lyrics.
Don't you think Tanja Savic will be a huge success with Bosniaks? She sounds so much like Ceca, and since I know how much you all "dislike" her, Tanja would be a perfect replacement! Plus she never married a war criminal!

Tanja is pretty popular with Bosniaks, but there haven't been many Serbian singers who have really broken through.
Joksimovic has, though. When he went to Mostar for a concert, which you
know is the most anti-Serb city probably in the whole of the world, the
papers here were very impressed. It suddenly became taboo to joke about
his pink suits and sensitive voice.
Ceca wasn't hated during the war. Bosniaks played her songs in their
trenches as well. It was only for the things she said at her concert in
"Sarajevo" (Lukavica) after the war that she became so unpopular.
"There's a city over these hills that needs to be burned like an oak branch, cut out like a cancer. Let them hear us!"
etc.

Every moment, like last, neither earth, nor sky don't calculate time. Left only one heart in scorched bosom. Throbing only drums again, calling us into battle.

the universal soldier- from donovan
He's five feet two and he's six feet four He fights with missiles and with spears He's all of 31 and he's only 17 He's been a soldier for a thousand years
He's a Catholic, a Hindu, an atheist, a Jain, a Buddhist and a Baptist and a Jew and he knows he shouldn't kill and he knows he always will kill you for me my friend and me for you
And he's fighting for Canada, he's fighting for France, he's fighting for the USA, and he's fighting for the Russians and he's fighting for Japan, and he thinks we'll put an end to war this way
And he's fighting for Democracy and fighting for the Reds He says it's for the peace of all He's the one who must decide who's to live and who's to die and he never sees the writing on the walls
But without him how would Hitler have condemned him at Dachau Without him Caesar would have stood alone He's the one who gives his body as a weapon to a war and without him all this killing can't go on
He's the universal soldier and he really is to blame His orders come from far away no more They come from him, and you, and me and brothers can't you see this is not the way we put an end to war.

Eartha Kitt, baby.
You want to take me cruising on an ocean liner to places I long to see?
Well, with my champagne taste and your beer-bottle pockets...
Don't forget to write me when you get there in rowboat,
After you've paddled across the sea - without me!
Do you see us dining on caviar and pheasant with descendants of Royalty?
Well with my champagne taste and your beer bottle pockets...
I'll be having pheasant while you're dining with the peasants,
Dunking donuts in a diner - without me!
You said you have ambition to make my dream come true
Well brother, you just keep right on wishing
And all of my dreams will come true - without you!
And if I wanted diamonds, you'd offer me breakfast at Tiffany's
A luncheon at Cartier's, you'd recommend?
Well with my champagne taste and your beer bottle pockets...
You will have to work on something better than a Zirkon
Because your diamonds are this girl's worst friend...
So if you want me to be a part of your permanant employ
Before my champage fizzles, come up with the Real McCoy!
Show me you can separate the man from the boy
And give me a life of champagne taste!

del amitri - nothing ever happens
Post office clerks put up signs saying "position closed" And secretaries turn off typewriters and put on their coats And Janitors padlock the gates For security guards to patrol And bachelors phone up their friends for a drink While the married ones turn on a chat show And they'll all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow
Gentlemen time please you know we can't serve anymore The traffic light change to stop when there's nothing to go And by five o'clock everything's dead And every third car is a cab And ignorant people sleep in their beds Like the doped white mice in the collage lab
And nothing ever happens Nothing happens at all The needle returns to the start of the song And we all sing along like before And we'll all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow
Telephone exchanges click while there's nobody there The Martians could land in the car park and no one would care Close circuit cameras in department stores Shoot the same movie every day And the stars of these films neither die or get killed Just survive constant action replay
And nothing ever happens Nothing happens at all The needle returns to the start of the song And we all sing along like before And we'll all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow
And bill boarding advertise products that nobody needs While angry from Manchester writes to complain about All the repeats on TV Computer terminals report some gains For the value of copper and tin While American businessmen snap up Van Goghs For the price of a hospital wing
And nothing ever happens Nothing happens at all The needle returns to the start of the song And we all sing along like before
And nothing ever happens Nothing happens at all The'll burn down the synagogues at six o'clock And we all go along like before And we'll all be lonley tonight and lonely tomorrow And we'll all be lonley tonight and lonely tomorrow

Thanks a lot Mila. Most Turkish mp3 sites I know are closed or you have to pay for the songs now due to new Turkish Law
Alpay is one of the elite singers in Turkey. He was around for quite some time.that's how he looked in 60's

Basil-Poledouris---Anvil-of-Crom | |
|
Basil Poledouris is one of the best composers I know.He composed many
soundtracks for movies such as Conan the Barbarian, The Hunt For Red
October, Starship Troopers etc..
Listen to Anvil of Crom first thing in the morning, you won't need coffee to wake up
