Topic: Guess the type of architecture! Posted: 16-May-2009 at 13:34 |
In a southern city of Iran there is a historical mosque which has been changed to a museum, I think this is a difficult question, but do you think who built this mosque?

Oh at the (very high) risk of making a fool out of myself, I will have a stab in the dark. South-East Asian architects? Wacky, I know.
EDIT: Maybe Indian?

Well if you look at it in a certain light, it could appear, maybe, Malian/Ethiopian!

It looks like a cheap Indian style with a Portuguese touch! Here is a more sophisticated Indian/Pakistani Style.

Gotcha, Cyrus. I thought if anyone in the region was likely not to use the Arabic/Turkish arch throughout, it would be the Khwarizmians. I would guess that my dating was too early, then. My next guess then would be someone influenced by European forms of architecture. Persian shahs in the 18th-19th century? Or am I way off?

That is Rangooni Mosque, built by some Burmese immigrants in the southwest of Iran, near the Iran-Iraq border.
