There is nothing wrong with patriotism provided you keep in mind your enemy too has been brainwashed to believe there is nothing wrong in killing you in the name of God and Country. #

There was a World War II because the combatants had their own versions of World War I.

Nature seems to be partial to the number two: we have two eyes, two ears, two arms, two legs, and a forked tongue. #

In Aaron Sorkin’s NEWSROOM,
after making a long
list of facts that prove
“America is not the greatest
country on earth,”
McAvoy (the central character) adds:
“But we used to be.”
No mention of slavery, racism, McCarthyism,
Watergate. Nixon, Scalia, Archie Bunker, Madoff…
and I could go on!

Yes, you could go on, but before you do, you might read the Code of Conduct first. Just to keep you out of trouble.

If you speak the
truth
liars will conspire
against you
and you will be
outnumbered a thousand to one.

ON LEADERSHIP ********************************* Leadership plays a key role in the life and death of nations. Compare the fate of Jews in Germany with that of Jews in Egypt under the charismatic political leadership of Moses. And now consider our own fate at the turn of the last century in the Ottoman Empire. * Homo sapiens may also be defined as a being incapable of learning from history. * If we reject history as a useful tool of survival, we condemn ourselves to systematic extermination or the death of a thousand self-inflicted cuts. * Our historians have betrayed us by reducing the study of history to perpetual lamentation. #

Survival comes with a
price. The body may survive, but the spirit, that’s different.

The best argument against all organized religions: the Middle East is the birthplace of 3 religions.

Those who declare wars have
a better chance to survive them than those who do the actual fighting.

SPENGLER AND TOYNBEE
************************************
What I find
fascinating in Spengler and Toynbee are not the grand theories about the
cyclical (Spengler) or non-cyclical (Toynbee) nature of history, but the gems
of penetrating observations that are scattered throughout their works.
