Topic: Worlds 10 Worst Dictators Posted: 08-Sep-2006 at 19:50 |
Thanks for the information. Greatly appreciated! I will get back to you in regards to him! It seems that I have struck a nerve amongst some people. Frankly I never met the man, nor do i know of him. Needless to say, I only learn about him in regards to being a villain. Every villian has a good side to him as well. Anyhow, lets put him on hold for now...

really? What good side did he have? Did he buy a candy bag and gave it
to a German kid on the street while a million Jewish children died in
concentration camps?

Yes, I mean, really, Hitler had no good side. Heck, he "loved" his dog so much, he tested his suicide pill on his dog. He could not have loved his dog too much.

Every Dictator came over the rule after an economical or political crises.Like Hitler .He came to rule after Fisrt world war.German people needed a hero for the brigth future.
With The Versailles Treaty German people got more poor and has been degraded against other european countries. For that German people were in a depression. Why they have choose that psycopat Hitler.
The Versailles Treaty required Germany to pay enormous reparations, which it did by borrowing from the United States, until reparations were suspended in 1931. The Guilt Thesis became controversial in Britain and the United States. It caused enormous bitterness in Germany, which nationalist movements, especially the Nazis, exploited in the 1920s. (See Dolchstosslegende).
In the Australian and New Zealand popular minds, the First World War became known as the nations' Baptism of Fire, as it was the first major war in which the newly established countries fought, and it is one of the first cases where Australian troops fought as Australians, not just subjects of the British Crown. Anzac Day (Australia New Zealand Army Corps) is thus held in great reverence by many Australians and New Zealanders.
Social trauma
The experiences of the war led to a sort of collective national trauma afterwards for all the participating countries. The optimism of the 1900s was entirely gone and those who fought in the war became what is known as the Lost Generation because they never fully recovered from their experiences. For the next few years, much of Europe began its mourning; memorials were erected in thousands of villages and towns. The soldiers returning home from World War I suffered greatly, since the horrors witnessed in that war had never been seen before in history. Although it was commonly called shell shock, it is now known that many returning soldiers suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
This social trauma manifested itself in many different ways. Some people were revolted by nationalism and what it had supposedly caused and began to work toward a more internationalist world, supporting organizations such as the League of Nations. Pacifism became increasingly popular. Others had the opposite reaction, feeling that only strength and military might could be relied upon for protection in a chaotic and inhumane world that did not respect hypothetical notions of civilization. Anti-modernist views were a reaction against the many changes taking place within society. The rise of Nazism and fascism included a revival of the nationalistic spirit of the prewar years and, on principle, a rejection of many postwar changes. Similarly, the popularity of the Dolchstosslegende was a testament to the psychological state of the defeated, as acceptance of the scapegoat mythos signified a rejection of the lessons of the war and therefore, a rejection of its popular resulting perspective. Certainly a sense of disillusionment and cynicism became pronounced, with Nihilism growing in popularity. This disillusionment towards humanity found a cultural climax with the Dadaist artistic movement. Many people believed that the war heralded the end of the world as they had known it, including the collapse of capitalism and imperialism. Communist and socialist movements around the world drew strength from this theory and enjoyed a level of popularity they had never known before. These feelings were most pronounced in areas directly or particularly harshly affected by the war, especially within Europe.

Guys, come on. Obviously Hitler was one of the really awful characters of history and brought disaster on Europe AND most of all, on his own people, but making this into a Lord of the Rings style goodness/badness is not very realistic. Obviously the guy -as a person- had some good to him. He probably loved his mother, was nice to some people, I don't know. What I mean is, don't make a metaphysical monster of a plainly horrible person.
And please, don't anyone ask me if I am a fan of Hitler. I despise dictatorship in its every form.

Why the people needed a dictator? For germany example after 1918 Versailles agreement Germans lost everything even their dreams .
And Hitler offered them a dreamy future with lies.
What about the other nations?Spanish,Russian,Argentinians,French,Italians?

As for the top of the list for current dictators, it has to be this guy-->
Islam Karimov of Uzbekistan
Putin is IMHO very much going that route.
Hosni Mubarak of Egypt.
Among others.
Some of the aforementioned dictators are pretty much 'politically framed' dictators than actual dictators.
For Past dictators and let me stress there is a subtle but obvious difference between dictators and mass murderers, would be STALIN.

The best for a nation is not to kill its own people.
Hitler was a bastard and a cruel clown that cause 50 million people to die because of his ambitions.
And Hitler was a COWARD, that commited suicide like a COWARD to avoid trial. Hitler was a crap of an artist, but a cruel killer.
Now for the Nordicist that believe Hitler was great, well, he was the direct responsable of the largest genocide on WHITE PEOPLES on history.
And he was not even "pure" german. The bastard of Hitler has Jewish blood, and that's why he hated his own relatives so much.
Thanks God Hitler is dead. His death save the German people from becomming extinct!

Russia needs someone like Putin, he is bringing about a real turn around in russia int eh face of Western ambitions on his nation and its interests.
Besides, he is hte only world leader that I know of who will sit for three or more hours in front of national and international press to answer questions, of all sorts directly and without rehearsal.

I don't agree. Nobody needs dictators. All that is needed is a good and practical democratic president.
If anyone want a dictator we can ship you Pinochet, who is a retired dictator that has not been kind enough to die, so Chileans can celebrate at last.
If anyone wants this gorilla, just say so and we ship it to you by courier:

Recently a nice room in ICJ Hotel in The Hague has come free. Perhaps that's something for him?
