Tansu Ciller(1946- ), an economist who had made her post-doctorate studies in Yale, was the first Turkish Prime Minister.
As a professor of economics, she joined politics when she was 44. And soon after getting into politics, in 1993,she became the first prime minister of Turkey, and one of the rare women in both Asia,Europe and the world to have such an important duty on her hands. She had been the PM of Turkey for 3 years.
She was actually a follower of totally capitalist economic methods, and took former British PM Margaret Thatcher as an example for herself, both politically and economically, and showed a tough stance in most issues, even though her era is sometimes claimed to be an era of impropriety.
