QuoteReplyTopic: What if you bought the book "What If?" Posted: 07-Dec-2004 at 18:11
maybe this should go under literary, but there are several (i think two) books out of the "What If?" series. they are groups of essays by historians theorizing tons of "What If"'s, such as those which are on this forum. just thought that those of you who were interested in alternative histories such as those discussed in this forum would be interested (many of you may have already read it)
Begging plea of the weak can only receive disrespect, violence and oppression as bestowments. Blood and sweat of the weak can only receive insult, blame and abuse as rewards.
I actually bought that book when it first came out. (I wasn't looking forward to it, I just saw it in a bookstore.)
I think that its a very good book, although like all historical what if scenarios people tend to go a bit overboard. But that's what makes it fun right?
Economic Communist, Political Progressive, Social Conservative.
I actually thought they were pretty modest, and too many of the scenarios were describing either one way things would happen or were limited in some fashion, I would have prefered multiple interpretations for each scenario, because soem were just flat out nrealisitc.
