Well, my favorite writer is

Karl Friedrich May

(25.02.1842 - 30.03.1912)

Karl May (1842 - 1912)

I have most of his books, and i love to read again and again
about the adventures of
Kara ben Nemsi and Hadschi Halef Omar.

There are some of his greatest books in german language.

And who is your favorite writer?

It's quite difficult to choose one, but I have to admit that the best historical novels that I've ever read, was the ones of Massimo Manfredi. Especially, ''The last legion'', ''Tower of solitude'', ''Tyrant'' and the Alexander's trilogy.
Give me a place to stand and I will move the world.

...my favourite author has to be Bill Bryson..i have read every book he has published and i never fail to be amused, amazed and informed with every book...he has a great way of portraying the human race with great insight and humour... and his research is rock solid....

..as for a more historical themes, the author i most admire is John Lewis Gaddis and his books about the Cold War...extremely informative, accessible, interesting, insightful and analytical in content....i admit to be somewhat envious of his writing style, he tackles weighty and complicated issues with ease..a brilliant historian and a superb writer...

I'm torn between John Steinbeck, Kazuo Ishiguro, and Richard Yates. They all write so differently, so I'll just list them all. Tongue

My favorite would be George R.R. Martin right now, especially the Storm of Ice and Fire series of books.
Kilroy was here.

Mine is Robert Jordan, author of The Wheel of Time series. I absolutely loved those books and can't wait for the last one to come out.

Terry Pratchett, no contest.
After, probably Tad Williams, writer of the 'Memory, Sorrow and Thorn' and 'Otherland' series.

And Jane Austen, of course... Wink

Although I could go for the family connection and say James Barry

Well, I mean "Solomon-the-guy-that-actually-wrote-it" not Solomon the king. Someone wrote it, isn't? LOL
