Chinese Women & Suicide

On May 15th, the Washington Post reported that the suicide rate for women in China is 25% higher than for men, with the rate being three times higher in rural areas (by consuming pesticides- the method of choice). It also reported that suicide is increasing among young and married women. Further studies showed that 38% of those women experienced domestic violence, and most had an average of five years of school and lived in households with monthly incomes of US$13.00.    Is there anywhere in the world where domestic violence and abuse towards women does not occur?
