An old fashioned catholic basically leaves the subject matter as a function of the conscience and confession. After all, some of the greatest erotic statuary in art can be found in Saint Peter's Basilica, inclusing Bernini's The Ecstacy of St. Teresa, and the Catholic King, bulwark against Turk and Protestant, Felipe II, had some rather kinky Bosch panels in his rather spartan bed chamber (think El Jardin de las Delicias). By the way you may not necessarily end up in the Outer Darkness where there will be wailing and the gnashing of teeth just for being agnostic,--admittedly you are well on your way--but as with the day the world ends such speculations are frowned upon in proper Catholic theology! Usually, the people who believe their neighbors are going to hell will probably end up there first given the essentially uncharitable characteristic of such speculation.

I've seen some antic art forms dealing with porn (from "adds" for hookers in Pompei to some tombs in Egypt and from the cathedrals' sculptures to Greek vases, both sharing a common interest human-beast sexual relationships) but I must say these moches were really dirty minds� Gosh the skeleton in the process of putting its big cock in that woman's mouth is too trash to be true!

The Moche sculptures might also have been phallic or fertility symbols. These sorts of symbols are common in the old pagan religions throughout the world. They had a religious connotation, denoting renewal of the crops, changing of seasons, fertility of the soil as well as the procreation of domestic animals, and of humans too. Eroticism (porn) had a religious aspect to these people, it was part of their ongoing circle of life. I think that in a disguised, subtle way it perhaps continues to exist in modern religions and in modern culture, though nowadays we tend to separate religion and eroticism, which the old pagan religions didn't.
