If Gunpowder had never been discovered......

If this is what passes for serious discussion on this forum...

If gunpowder had not be invented, the science of ballistics would rule the battlefields, and battles would remain up close and personal between masses of soldiers supported by steam-powered ballistic weapons firing arrows, spears, rocks and probably fletchettes by the thousands.

Cavalry would not dominate the battlefield because they are too vulnerable to heavy weaponry and too easy to mount a defense against.

Instead, "rtanks" and AFV's - although not armed with cannon or MG's but more liekly flamethrowers - would dominate carrying soldiers to take advantage of breaches in enemy lines.

If gunpowder had never been discovered I'm thinking that we would still have heavy cavalry that would be col to see the hussar and the klibanophoros, and archers, I wonder if we would have planes? What sort of technology would we have?. One more thing, God I love this site!!!!
