Hands up anyone who thought the Robert Morgenthau who just announced he won't run again as Manhattan District Attorney was the son of the one who was Manhattan DA in 1974 or possibly the grandson of the one JFK appointed US attorney for Manhattan in 1961 (only to be fired by Nixon over Watergate).

They are all the same one, who hits 90 next year.

But don't go too far and think he must also be the one who was Treasury Secretary under FDR or the one who was Wilson's ambassador to the Ottoman Porte. They were his father and grandfather respectively.
