Topic: how to get more AE interest? Posted: 16-Jun-2019 at 20:17 |
It really sucks that things have been so slow here on AE for last
few years since the schism with world historia etc. When i was on
Historum there was a lot more activity there but sadly they unfairly
"indefinitely suspended" and banned me.
How can we get more interest/members/activity?
Just
wondering if this is possible. How about a competition between AE and
Historum and world historia forums? Just for friendly fun. I know
relations between all 3 forums are bad but really it may be good for AE
and the other 2 and bring some new members.
There should be a
directory of history (and other) forums and sites. Even on each site
they should have links to other sites (even if rivals/enemies).
Of
course it have seen it said that net forums are declining
popularity/interest these days for various reasons like problem having
to have new user names and passwords for each one. But yet forums like
Historum seem to have plenty of activity. Plus i know the
moderators/admins may be too busy.

NZ's mandatory fluoridation is not fair because it only forces it on the disadvantaged/some and not on the advantaged/everyone.

Actually, When the 2 sites split, membership at world historia crashed.
AE was the popular site. The folks at WH, for some reason, blame me for the split.
They have a post where I am called a "criminal". They tried to steal AE from Cyrus, and got caught.
Cyrus regained his data base and put AE back online. He sent an email to all members. I had left AE in 2008, as I didn't like where the site was headed.
I responded and became a member and Admin.
I have tried to establish a report with them but the animosity that exists from the Admins. make it unlikely that they would co-operate.
And to be honest, knowing what I know about the split and the dirty nonsense that went on, I don't really care.

Facebook and other sim. sites have cut in to the interests that would bring folks here.
Also, my personal situation restricted the time I could spend online.
After my wife passed, I went into a funk that I am working my way out of. I will start to pay more attention.

Am slowly working my way back from major depressive episodes spanning the last two to three years. The toll on the PFC is pretty devastating but I'm making progress slowly but surely. Imagine being an avid reader who can't face reading...etc.... Unfortunately, that has been but the tip of the iceberg. My biggest challenge is probably rebuilding my memory in the short term memory area of working memory. I was probably born with a problem with it but I must have adapted to working around it somewhat. Depression can squish the PFC reducing its capacity. Have started reading again, and am playing apps that should help too. Getting into mindfulness training in a small way through meditation and colouring pictures to help with focusing on the moment. Have started to come onto this site a little more of late and hope to do so even more over time.

What a handsome figure of a dragon. No wonder I fall madly in love with the Alani Dragon now, the avatar, it's a gorgeous dragon picture.

Apparently many other forums are going through a down swing. The group that owns "Dinosaur Home", which I stop into now and then, are closing 32 separate sites, due to inactivity.

We have weathered times like this before, we aren't going anywhere.
