Telde & Vivek, both systems of law (Indian & Muslim) have long ways to go in terms of women's rights & human equality.
 
 
A few months after the inter-caste marriage, Jassi and Mittoo were ambushed by a gang of men in Punjab.  Mittoo was left for dead.   Jassi was kidnapped, brutally murdered, and was found in an irrigation ditch with her throat cut.
