QuoteReplyTopic: The Real Reason Why Pirates Wore Eyepatches Posted: 20-Nov-2018 at 02:28
Among possible reasons, a common theory is that pirates wore eyepatches because they had lost one eye in battle. This makes sense, and there probably were many maimed pirates who wore eyepatches, but some believe that this is not enough to explain the prevalence of eyepatches among pirates compared to non-pirates.
Was it connected with shooting straight/accurately maybe? (or seeing far like eagle?) Or to intimidate people? Or as as recognition or membership sign? Or to sleep in day? Or to protect the eye from something? ("If your eye offends you pluck it out"?) (One-eyed dajjal in Islam?)

NZ's mandatory fluoridation is not fair because it only forces it on the disadvantaged/some and not on the advantaged/everyone.
but some believe that this is not enough to explain the prevalence of eyepatches among pirates compared to non-pirates.
There is no greater number of REAL pirates who wore eye-patches than there were normal sailors. Its the fictional portrayal that makes have the over subscription of eye-patches.
