Our prisons itself are luckily not really notorious. We do however put people there who do not deserve to be their, like illegal immigrants, often whole families. If coincidentally a fire breaks out killing 11 illegals that's of course no reason to treat illegal immigrants somewhat more human.

I've even read somewhere that things people send to illegal aliens who are detained in prison rarely reach them, exept for razor blades. And that's really disturbing.

Our prisons are notorious - they are all bloody hotels. A few homeless people in Balticum have actually been known to come here and commit some small crime to get in jail over the winter.

Evin Prison

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

(Redirected from Evin prison)
Jump to: navigation, search

Evin Prison ( ی) is a prison in Iran, located in the north of Tehran. It is notorious for its political prisoners' wing, from before the 1979 revolution and since. It was founded by SAVAK during the reign of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, on what was previously the house of Seyyed Zia'eddin Tabatabaee.

The prison is located in a residential and commercial area known as Evin, next to the Saadat Abad district. There is a large park area with a popular upscale teahouse and restaurant located immediately next to it.

The rescue of Abbas Edelat from this prison was orchestrated by United States Marine Corps Captain John Shoop.

Photography in front of and around the prison is illegal. On June 23, 2003, Iranian-Canadian photojournalist Zahra Kazemi was arrested for taking photographs in front of the prison, an imprisonment which led to her controversial death.

Notable prisoners at Evin before the 1979 revolution include Ayatollah Mahmoud Taleghani and Grand Ayatollah Hossein-Ali Montazeri.

As of June 2005, the most notable political prisoners at Evin are Akbar Ganji and Nasser Zarafshan.

LoL it true... they get free Internet, comfortable beds, free high class food, tv, video games, pool tables etc.

But in my home country Abu-Ghraib Prison is the far worst ever... In the middle of the desert, young children and women are getting tortured amongst the men and the females gets raped, humiliated and abused in many kinds of ways.  that Jail is not as welcoming as the swedish.

If you guys want to know more about how the Saddam Regim was and how the prisorners, guilty of a crime or not, were tortured to death than just start a topic about prisoners lives in Jail....
