i want to by a book book about general world history, but which also has extensive and detailed accountes of persian/iranian empires.

any recommendations?

If you haven't read Jared Diamond's "Guns, Germs and Steel" ... do! Unfortunaely it has almost nothing on ancient Persia... =P
