Yes it's sad. Not the overall performance but the concept. Back to robotics? monkeys? Seems cold and personless. Lack of funds and initiative is now driving the train and I fear the only thing in the way of RDA will be that funded by the DOD.

And while important I don't want defense driving the science of space exploration.

Here is an up date on the mine fire.  Two pumps have been restarted, but the one in lab may not be running, because the lab is full of foam and the people responding to the fire and turning on pumps, didn't enter the lab.  At the time of this report, it is not known for sure where the fire started, nor what started it, nor if it is complete extinguished, but it appears to be extinguished.

http://news.dnr.state.mn.us/index.php/2011/03/20/soudan-mine-fire-99-percent-out/

By the way, the kind of experiments done in this lab, makes an empty mine an excellent place for the experiments.

Following this link, I came upon an explanation of why flu viruses spread more easily in the cold months.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/03/080330203401.htm

The over all rule is how temperature effects stickiness, or solidness, of the atomic particle or the flu virus.

The shell of a flu virus gets hard in the cold and hangs in the air longer, instead of being destroyed as would happen if not for the hard shell.  Then when it gets in soft warm spots, it sticks.  When it warms up, and shell melts, it enters the host's body and multiples until the host's immune system successfully attacks and destroys the virus.   This defense takes several days, because our bodies apparently disarm, and have to mobilize with each new invasion, unless we are inoculated against a virus.  Then we remained armed like the US after Eisenhower established the Military Industrial Complex.

Which is probably why virus' per se, do not exsist in the cold and vaccum of space......unless transported viz a host....interesting.

Seems like they ie. science is always solving something....they had already solved Winkfor years it was planetary formation debis.... asteroids etc....now it's this. Just once I'd love them to agree for at least a year. But then again that's why I love this stuff they are always on the 'think'.

Fear of Death Spurs Belief in Intelligent Design

Quite thought provoking and informative.....but it begs the question why don't mainstream people trust then in science? Those, who for example, might share the contention being formulated. Is it because they believe more that science, being the product of human intellect, is then inferior to a greater unknown. And therefore creates a requirement for a developer of intelligent design?

Judge for yourselves.

Comet Theory Comes Crashing to Earth

A haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

You read it here first.Cool

''Yet, the scientists who described the alleged impact in a hallowed U.S. scientific journal refuse to consider the critics’ evidence — insisting they are correct, even though no one can replicate their work: the hallmark of credibility in the scientific world''

Annnnnnnnnnnother example of the science ego vs. challenges.
