Science is not my strong side, so I just posted the scientific events on the History of Culture thread - but the posts are getting too long, so for the sake of easier usage of the proposed info I'm making this thread especially for events in the field of science, technology, and discovery in all types of fields - geographical, medical, astronomical, etc. I hope that I won't be the only poster here. I found that keeping count of the daily events through history is a very effective way to keep one's history facts in check. I'll use mainly this site  http://www.historyorb.com/events/march/26 - http://www.historyorb.com/events/march/26 skimming only the relevant facts, so if I didn't make special references, this is the one to reference the entries.

Today, March 26th:
http://www.historyorb.com/events/date/1812/ - 1812 - Earthquake destroys 90% of Caracas Venezuela; about 20,000 die
