Hmm, so it's post-Funan and post-Chenla, and dates to the Khmer Empire period. I suppose if the Vikings, Franks, and 1066 and all that are ancient, then so is this.

Iron weapons and chariots would have given the Khmers an advantage over their weaker neighbors. From what I've heard, they were as ruthless as the Assyrians

F;or that to be true, the iron age must of come late to Indochina regium.  As I said, the Khmers were really medieval, and both China and the West had switched/ovdr to iron during ancient times.

No, but then I don't know if the claim that Khner's knowledge of iron gave them an edge over their enemies is true.  It might not be, in which case the point is moot.
