Do not forgive, do not forget. 52 years ago today, the American and British paymasters ended Iran's one and only democratic experiment. We salute Shadravan Mohammad Mossadegh, Iran's only enlightened nationalist democrat. We will never forget the sacrifice of Martyr Dr.Hossein Fatemi, Foreign Minister, who was the initiator of the Motion to Nationalize Iranian Oil Industry in 1950. We will never forget the brutal assassination of Daryoush Forouhar, stabbed to death under a portrait of Dr.Mossadegh. Legends NEVER die. |

Hey, america is (wasnt back then) a democracy anyway, look how they treated their own black (coloured) populations. look how they killed all the natives. 1953 was a bad year, but iranians have gone through far worse and we are still here. american leaders can kiss our feet, the only way i will accept an apology from them. ------------- King of Kings, The Great King, King of the world. |

No the 1953 coup was a precursor to 1979, meaning that the 1953 coup led to the 1979 revolution. And an interesting point to note is that in the 40s the Mullahs were funded and propagated by the British to counter Iranian nationalism, and in 1979 BBC Persian was full of pro Khomeini lies. ------------- |

Yeah, sad for Iran. But I think the reign of Reza Shah Pahlavi was no better than the current one. He also didnt care about his suffering population and the poverty... ------------- |

He was better, but still not good. That is why he was removed as autocrat in the late 40s and replaced with a governemnt with the interests of Iran and its people at heart, obviously the West felt threatened in the usual stupendous way and that is why they instigated the coup in 1953. It is just a disgrace about the Iranians who sold the soul of their country and partcipated in it, the same story that led to the collapse of many previous Iranian governments, starting from the demise of the Sassanids. ------------- |

Yeah, blame the Americans. That 99.99% of the partaking people were Iranians doesn't matter, eh? CIA's role in the matter was ugly, yes, but putting the blame solely on the Americans and British won't do you any good in the long run. |
